Wimborne Rugby Club’s Mini & Youth section hosted their first Try Rugby community sports event on Sunday 8th September, welcoming over 200 children aged 5-13 for a morning of fun and fitness!

Serving as an introduction to Rugby to over 70 brand new children to the club, and a fun break from normal training for existing players, children enjoyed a host of activities from various Rugby skills sessions to a taster Boogie Bounce session on mini trampolines. First team coach, Frazer Wilford, was available to present prizes to the players for demonstrating rugby’s core values - Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship.

Wimborne’s Mini & Youth Chairman, Paul Gosling commented, I was really impressed by the high- quality coaching I saw with Wimborne’s ethos of Rugby for Allclearly to the fore. To have so many players and their families wanting to be involved is fantastic, it was a brilliant community morning of sport.

The club, which is run by volunteers, benefitted from some amazing support from the local community. WOW Ladies Fitness led the group warm-up, Peter Short Director of Rugby at Canford School delivered tackling masterclasses and the match shirt sponsor Scott Symes from Symes Wealth Management clearly enjoyed himself in his role as coach for our Under 8’s.

This is a really exciting time for rugby with the World Cup in Japan just around the corner and for Wimborne Rugby Club as they gear up for a potential move to new ground and facilities.
