Tight Win at North Dorset
Wimborne Under 11s first match of the season took place on a sunny morning at North Dorset.
Wimborne and the hosts each put out two sides and Sherborne brought one so each team played three or four games. In the opening round Wimborne A proved a bit too strong for North Dorset B with the host's A side also dominating Wimborne B on the other pitch. In the second game North Dorset B came out ahead in a much closer game with Wimborne B while Wimborne A had another comfortable win against Sherborne. In their final match Wimborne B really raised their game to record an encouraging win over Sherborne leaving just the headline battle between North Dorset A and Wimborne A.
North Dorset played a very direct game and their strong forwards provided plenty of possession but heroic tackling kept Wimborne in the game and the visitors snatched the lead through winger Ollie R with the final play of the first half. Despite playing up hill North Dorset pressed for much of the second half and eventually overcame very determined defence to level the score. It looked to be heading for a draw when with the final play of the game Wimborne's other winger, Tom S, took advantage of a turnover to seal the result. Great to see over sixty boys from three clubs enjoying a morning of Rugby played in a fiercely competitive but sportsmanlike spirit.
