PROP IDOL
Congratulations to KIT AQUILINA for his achievement on coming first at Wednesday night's Prop Idol. He will now be going to Salisbury RFC on the 15th DEC for the finals.
We all wish him good luck. Also well done to everybody else that turned up on the night, great effort lads and I feel we all benefited from it, well done.
U13 Newsletter - November 2008

Last month's calendar:
05 / 10 / 08 ------ Oakmeadians--------- Cancelled
12 / 10 / 08 ------ Gosport & Fareham
19 / 10 / 08 ------ Bournemouth
26 / 10 / 08 ------ New Milton

Reports
05 / 10 / 08

Unfortunately Oakmedians were unable to muster a team, so training was the order of the day at Corfe Hills School and yes it was a wet start but it ended up being a good training session in the dry, after a fairly good weather prediction from a good sources.

12 / 10 / 08
Good to see everybody on time at Gosport & Fareham, after a good run around and handling warm up the lads were up for the morning's rugby. It has never been our strong point in starting a match in the oppositions faces but today we were, the forwards were united in attacking the run of play winning most of the early ball even if it was in our own half but we were holding up Gosports attacks well, the early boot came into play for territory which is meaningless if we lost position but all credit to the lads we didn't loss it here, it was lost on the ground and an area to work on. Gosport regained momentum and ran the ball wide scoring a try in the first quarter and then followed it up with four more later on. Wimborne scored a well ran try from deep after Gosport giving away a penalty just outside our own 22; this was in the third quarter. The match ended up with Wimborne loosing out by 27 - 5 which on the whole didn't reflect on all the sweat the lads put in, Impart to Gosports coaches they were impressed with the way Wimborne ran the ball instead of kicking. And we as coaches instead of scouts noticed the players to look out for the next time around. This weekend you lads played rugby on a full size pitch with a 15 aside squad for the very first time and us coaches where proud of the way you achieved and showed the ability to think for yourselves. WELL Played one and all, Man of the match goes to Aaron Bellis.

19 / 10 / 08
Wimborne didn't deliver the stopper punch in the match as Bournemouth had obviously been awaiting, the score line shows 36 - 0 , But from this we can honestly say players where playing out in new positions to there regular place, and as coaches feel this is not a bad move against what is a well drilled side, giving players the opportunity to move around the pitch will stand them in good stead later on in there rugby career, and obviously it will help pick up their awareness of the game. If Wimborne just got there feet moving in the right direction it might of helped in the tackling instead of standing off waiting to trust themselves at one player. We must remember it is everybody's job to support the ball carrier and communicate with each other at all times, trys will help keep your chins up.

26 / 10 / 08
This match was our first game at home and against New Milton it promised to deliver an exiting home fixture. The ground conditions were soft underfoot so the warm up was done without going to ground trying to keep everybody as warm as possible. The team talk in the changing rooms was one of a positive attitude to this match and the lads were going out to give a good account of there rugby training from Wednesday nights on our own pitch. Winning the toss helped in achieving our goal as New Milton were on the back foot, as Wimborne opened the score with a try by throwing the ball wide and overlapping the New Milton defence. From the restart New Milton opened up Wimborne's back line with an impressive move from there number 10 and nobody picking up the switch pass to there 13. As the game carried on the lads defended our try line well and to these hard tackles were made from both sides. Wimborne forwards soon got behind the ball and scored Wimborne's second try, which was converted. During the first half New Milton lost two lads to injury but we hope they both recover a.s.a.p. After a long spell of waiting for the rest of the squad it was decided to go back to the changing rooms and rest before playing a second half. Changes were made to both sides at this time. When the second half got underway New Milton scored first but missed the conversion and really put Wimborne under pressure but once again the lads rallied and kicked themselves out of danger and started running the ball along the backs which helped lead to a further try by a supporting forward. Final score Wimborne 17 - 5 New Milton.
Thanks to the ref & everybody that gave first aid.

U13 Newsletter - October 2008

This is going to become part of this year's new management move, to bring you the latest news in a newsletter form.
The first thing I would like to say is to ROB DUSTAN, we as coaches and parents, appreciate your decision to become Head of year and we will do our best to behave this season.
Also many thanks to TRACEY SCOTT for becoming Co–ordinator, not an easy job, so please feel free to give HELP when needed.

Secondly, welcome back to all the Old Boys and Girls from previous years. It’s without doubt a pleasure to coach and converse with such intelligent young and old alike. To this we welcome any new players and their Families to Wimborne Rugby Club. We as coaches will strive to help your young men to become sportsmen in their own right, and to enjoy the game we love and hopefully they will as well.

THE LEXUS FESTIVAL
May I firstly thank all who travelled to Keynsham as it’s your support that keeps the game alive by enabling young players the opportunity to achieve their goals in sport.
Wimborne Under 13s were in Pool A
RESULTS:
CHELTHAM TIGERS 14 - 0 WIMBORNE
SWINDON RFC 0 - 34 WIMBORNE
WIMBORNE 0 - 36 PENTYRCH
IVYBRIGDE RFC 24 - 5 WIMBORNE

The first game was close but Wimborne just got lost in the early morning mist, some think like that or should we have said wake up?
Match two started with an approach that every coach wants to see, good running onto the ball at pace, calling out lovely names, and that was just the backs. The forwards dominated the scrums winning 4 out of 5 and fought their way through most of the rucks. This was an excellent show of power and team work resulting in five different players scoring trys.
The third match against the Welsh sheep farmers led to Wimborne lying down at every command, because every time the whistle went Pentyrch had scored again. I must say the only two scrums that there were - Wimborne won both. Next time we must remember the crook.
Match four and the last for us, saw Ivybridge take to the field looking to do battle. Wimborne faced up to going out, but we wanted to go out with a win. Ivybridge had the same idea and it didn’t take them long to work a move through the forwards out to the backs and score. Not the best of starts but the lads gave them a reminder that scrums and line outs are best left to the men as Wim took 4 out of 6 scrums and 3 out of 3 line outs. Even a prop tried to break Ivybridge’s defence on his own but they held strong and kicked a long ball out of trouble, scoring again and again. Wimborne still fought and were awarded a try near the end.

On behalf of the Players, Coaches and Parents of the under 13’s we would like to thank Keynshan for their hospitality, and Poole Lexus for providing Match shirts, and their support on the day.
